Graffiti Problem Overview:

The cost of cleaning up neighborhoods in Canada is in the hundreds of millions of dollars a year!

Graffiti is growing out of control, leaving building owners and municipalities almost powerless to stop it. But this alarming problem has caused the birth of a new industry - GRAFFITI CLEANUP AND REMOVAL.

Today's "taggers" and "graffiti artists" are armed with a much wider arsenal of tools than their predecessors: indelible markers, spray paint, eggs, powerful paint spray guns and even carbide-tipped tools for etching glass!

Once the Graffiti Shield has been applied to the surfaces to be protected, any vandalism by taggers and graffiti artists can easily be removed, and the acrylic polymer remains in place to protect the surface against future graffiti.

Graffiti Shield, a division of Dur-A-Shield, an industry leader in innovative research and technology for the development of acrylic polymer shielding products, has now met the challenge of this problem, which can create an outstanding business opportunity for entrepreneurs.

The transportation industry has a unique problem in dealing with graffiti. Unlike buildings, walls and overpasses, the process of removing the graffiti literally puts them out of business! The trains, busses and subways cannot run while the process of graffiti removal takes place. Downtime to the transportation industry means additional cost due to loss of income.

The Present Removal Methods are damaging to the substarte, harmful to the workers, and pollute the environment.

Caustics, sandblasting, wire brushes, re-painting, and the use of sacrificials are all inefficient methods in the war against grafitti. The risk to workers using these graffiti removal methods is a major concern. Health related problems and injuries can result in significant workers compensation claims. The use of poisonous chemicals causes severe damage to the environment and the use of abrasives can pit and scar the surfaces.

Harsh chemicals, sandblasting, wire brushes, and other abrasive tools cause permanent damage to the surface. Once the character of the surface has changed, it becomes virtually impossible to remove all of the graffiti from a porous surface. This means that the entire surface would need to be repainted or refinished.
